Tampa Digital Studios Moves to Centro Ybor
7/20/2007
TAMPA, FL--July 20, 2007--Tampa Digital Studios, a leading digital media and visual communications company, today announced that it has signed a long-term lease with M&J Wilkow, a Chicago-based company with retail and office properties throughout the country, to relocate its administrative, operations and film/video production facility to Centro Ybor, Ybor City, FL.
Tampa Digital will occupy more than 10,000 square feet in the 211,000-square-foot entertainment, restaurant and retail complex located on East Eighth Avenue, between Seventh and Ninth avenues, east of downtown Tampa, FL. The company expects to relocate in late fall 2007. It will move more than 30 creative people to the historic community.
The relocation announcement is planned for 10:30AM, Tuesday, July 24, 2007, when Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio is scheduled to appear, along with local creative, business and community leaders, at Centro Ybor, which is fast becoming known as a centerpiece for the surging creative community in Ybor City.
"We are excited about our move into Centro Ybor and the opportunity to add to the expanding creative industries in Ybor City," said George Cornelius, President/CEO of Tampa Digital. "After more than 10 years in South Tampa, we have outgrown our existing space, and are looking forward to moving into our new place."
Tampa Digital Studios is the largest digital media facility in West Central Florida. The company is a turnkey resource for multimedia production and visual communications nationwide. It has a broad customer base that spans from top-flight ad agencies to well-known independent and studio producers, from direct marketers to corporations, as well as business, technology and entertainment leaders. The staff is experienced in all aspects of digital media production and has an in-depth understanding of new technologies. This combination is used to create long-form and short-form programs, national and local commercials, public service announcements, corporate communication tools, as well as projects using 2D/3D graphics and animation and Internet services.
Tampa Digital management has spent the past two years looking throughout the Tampa Bay market for a suitable spot. After meeting with Deanne Roberts of Roberts Communications, which moved to Ybor City a few years ago, and Tom Keating, President/CEO of the Ybor City Chamber of Commerce, who also has a background in the film and video production industry, and learning what an impact moving to Ybor has made on relocated creatives, Cornelius felt extremely comfortable that Ybor meets all of Tampa Digital's and its clients' needs. "They were instrumental in making the final decision to move there," he said.
"From where we are relocating in Ybor City, we are still strongly connected to South Tampa, West Tampa, St. Petersburg, and still very accessible to the major airports serving the Tampa Bay area," Cornelius said.
David Harvey, Senior Vice President of M&J Wilkow, is both encouraged and excited about the addition of such a major digital media and communications company as Tampa Digital Studios at Centro Ybor. He thinks it will blend perfectly with the "entertainment, arts and community concept" that continues to evolve within Ybor City.
"This is the first official tenant signing of a creative firm to the property," he said. He's hoping it will be the first of many creative artists to be attracted to the center, he added.
Cornelius said: "M&J Wilkow has been great to work with throughout this process. We are eager to assist them in attracting more creative companies to the Centro Ybor complex, thereby adding to the rich history of support for the creative industries in Ybor City."
